We are registered with the Florida Department of Education as a private school; as such, our students are legally labeled as "private school students educated at home". This type of program is commonly referred to as an umbrella school!
We are always here to help you and your family! Some examples of support we offer are:
Curriculum advice
Grade level standards assistance
Answers to all of your questions by our certified teachers and qualified professionals
We accept all students in grades K-12
Current public/private school students must formally withdraw
Registered homeschoolers must send their superintendent a Notice of Termination
Children new to schooling do not need to notify anyone
We do not mandate a specific number of educational hours for our students, as this is a decision best made by the parents/home educators. Our students do need to complete 180 "days of education" per calendar year, which is a Florida Department of Education requirement.
When enrolling with Applewood for the first time you will be required to submit a copy of your child's birth certificate, immunization record, and school entry health form.
Yearly attendance records are required every 365 days. These are very simple! You will be provided with a calendar form in your Welcome Packet that can be used to keep track of your child's required 180 days of education.
We do not mandate that our students take any form of standardized testing
We do offer optional assessment testing services if you would like a guideline for choosing your curriculum or would like a better understanding of your child's academic level
